Day 4 - NYC

Bet you didn’t know New York City is the greenest city in America? We spent our morning and early afternoon in Central Park, Manhattan’s famed green oasis. It was a getaway within a vacation. Later that evening we went back out to Soho, perhaps our favorite borough in Manhattan and ate at Balthazar. It was worth every penny. If you ever want to experience THE new york restaurant, this is the place. Crowded, loud, hip, and great great food. Expensive, but what isn't in New York? The steak just melted in my mouth; and the veil that Younsoo had was absolutely delicious. And it's not New York without mouth watering dessert.

Central Park, the famous Bow Bridge is in the background.

Atop Belvedre Castle in the middle of Central Park.

Back in Soho.

People watching, which is quite enjoyable in Soho. We actually witnessed a bust on 2 young women selling fake Louis Vuittons by some undercover cops on the corner in front of us.

Balthazar. I will visit this eatery on every single visit to the Big Apple.

Day 3 -NYC

Day 3 was a day of walking for us. We began the day in Union Square to check out the Farmers' Market. After a quick bite, we strolled down to Washington Park where it was loud and crowded. A local band was performing on a side stage while people lounged throughout the park. A short subway ride later we were in Soho for some more walking and some serious shopping. The sidewalks were crowded and the stores were plentiful here in this hip and trendy part of town. 2 blocks south, Chinatown. The sidewalks were almost unwalkable due to the crowds; with people selling everything from fake Rolex to Mr. and Mrs. Smith on DVD. We decided on an early dinner at Joe's Shanghai, where the food was delicious, as Jeni would say. We eventually walked all the way down to Ground Zero. It had been almost 4 years since the attack, but the area still possessed an eerie feel to it. We swung by Wall Street, but we decided to pass on the Statue of Liberty since we had both been there before.

Union Square, I think I'm looking for my map. Them tourists !

Day 2 - NYC

Our first full day in New York was a rainy one. Fortuately, this was the only day which the weather wasn't perfect. However, we didn't let the weather spoil our fun one bit. The first thing we did was grab some lunch at the imfamous Carnegie Deli. The food was okay, a bit better than average. But the atmosphere was very New York.

After, we headed up East Side to the MET. This was perhaps my favorite part of NYC. The museum was endless. Unfortuately, this was our only visit to the MET and the 3 hours we spent wandering the halls was not nearly enough.

Our night ended perfectly on Broadway with dinner at Ollie's and the Producers at the St. James Theater. A New York MUST! The Broadway shows you watch here in Los Angeles does little justice to how it's supposed to be experienced. No wonder it's on Broadway most of these shows originate.

check out the size of this Pastrami and Cornbeef sandwich. it's a good thing we decided to share cause that's only half of it minus the top portion i had already eaten.

the MET. a museum within a museum.

all the art inspired me.

a great show with all the Broadway experience.

midnight in Times Square. this city never sleeps.

Day 1 - NYC

We left Long Beach Airport on JetBlue at 710a arriving in JFK at 320p. As we were on the plane we discovered that the London subway bombings had occurred that very morning and shortly after the subway and train transits would be on high alert here in the US. So upon our arrival we didn't know what to expect especially because we had prepared to take the subway everywhere, even from JFK to our hotel in Midtown.

Upon our arrival, aside from a few federal agents with machine guns (quite a surreal sight) in the terminal of the airport rail systems, it was business as usual. We hopped on the E train into Manhattan. A 40 minute subway ride, a brisk 2 block walk, we were finally at our destination.

The rest of the day was getting situated. We had dinner at John's Pizza in the Theatre District. The food was great, exactly what we wanted in our first meal in the Big Apple. Then we took a short subway ride over to Grand Central Station and did some more exploring.

Times Square was our first stop. NYC is the only city that appears exactly as it does in the movies.

'Lost in the Lights'

Our first meal..what else than NY pizza. We headed into the ever so popular John's Pizza on 44th and Broadway for some good ol grubbing.

NY's subway system is amazing. Also it's like a boiler room on a hot summer evening. This was our main source of transportation.

The majestic Grand Central Terminal.
